“One of the most exciting and distinctive blends of multiple genres found anywhere” -Americana Highways

Mississippi-based and California-bred, Jason Daniels pulls from another realm entirely. He has music in his blood. It runs in his family, and it runs through his veins. He writes and sings songs about the joys and pitfalls of a life well lived, and weaves these road worn stories together with his own inimitable blend of American Roots Music.

Growing up in the Napa Valley town of St. Helena, music made an early impression on Daniels. He picked up the guitar at the age of 8 and wrote his first song by the age of 12. Inspired by his uncles, George and Paul Richey, well-known musicians, songwriters and publishers. George penned The Grand Tour and A Picture of Me Without You, among other hits and was married to Tammy Wynette. Paul notably held the publishing on the Kenny Rogers hit, Lucille.

As an adult, Daniels spent many years playing music, traveling and creating the adventures that inspired his first record, Dashboard Visions and Rearview Reflections (October, 2013). DVRR was tracked live and recorded to 2” tape at The Bomb Shelter, in Nashville, Tennessee where he lived for several years. Maverick Magazine claimed it to be “full of soul and grit” and an “...album well worth seeking out.” The Vail Daily described it as “music that makes you want to experience life to its fullest.”

In 2012, while finishing DVRR, Daniels relocated to Jackson, Mississippi, commuting back and forth to Nashville to complete the recording. “I wanted to breathe the air and drink the water,” says Daniels referring to his move to Mississippi and “The City with Soul ''.

Daniels played regionally and toured across the West with an ever-changing line up of musicians over the next few years before discovering his creative muse again and birthing his second studio album. “In my earlier days, I would wait for the muse to arrive and accommodate her as best I could,” he says. “Recently, I have been getting up early and spending time on the porch swing in front of my studio. No agenda, just quietly sitting—this is when the majority of these songs came to me.” Downloads From The Universe (July 2020), the uplifting follow up to his lauded debut album was recorded to tape at Jackson’s Legendary Malaco Studios and released to vinyl, CD and across digital platforms, under the name Jason Daniels Band. During the pandemic, Downloads proved to be “a breath of fresh air,” according to Take Effect Reviews. Jeff Burger described the album as “Loose, spontaneous, and reminiscent of 1970s LPs from acts like the Grateful Dead and Delaney and Bonnie.” During the pandemic Daniels also launched Jax-Zen Studios, a boutique independent label,  recording & content production studio  in Jackson, MS

In 2021, the band released the single Mystery Train, Daniels again partnered with Malaco’s Chief Studio Engineer, Kent Bruce, who engineered and mastered the recording.
